What’s on near Canto Court?

If you’re into art the best place to look for inspiration in Shoreditch is directly on its streets. We recommend taking the Shoreditch Street Art Tour where you’ll be taken through the best street art in the local area.  Among the best places for shopping are Redchurch Street; filled with new contemporary designers and Spitalfields market where arts and crafts meet fashion and food.

Close to Canto Court student accommodation, the Barbican Centre shows some of London’s most avant-garde art exhibitions as well as hosting the world’s foremost classical soloists and orchestras throughout the year. And sticking with the art theme, you’re perfectly placed to visit the Brick Lane Gallery, the international Whitechapel Gallery, Hales Gallery, the Red Gallery and, for something slightly different, the Pure Evil Gallery.

There are several famous markets across East London, all with their own charm. Spitalfields Market might be 350 years old, but it’s undergone huge redevelopment. Visit for one-off fashion accessories, original handbags, clothing and artwork. Smithfield Market is a mecca for foodies looking to buy the best value fresh meat in town and on Sundays Brick Lane Market is perfect for finding a one-of-a-kind vintage item. If that’s not enough, Columbia Road Flower Market will give you the perfect plant or flowers to bring back to your flat.

Canto Court student accommodation has all the major grocery stores just outside the front door. Take your pick from Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose or Co-op. There’s also a hair salon, post office and dry cleaner nearby and all the major banks (HSBC, NatWest, Citi, Santander, Lloyds TSB and Barclays) have local branches too.  As well as everyday items nearby shops sell everything from stationery and electronics, to bikes and musical instruments.

We hope that you don’t have any medical emergencies during your stay at Canto Court, but it’s always best to be prepared! The onsite team can point you in the right direction for your local NHS clinics, dentists and pharmacies. The nearby Moorfields Eye Hospital is just a five minute walk down the road and St. Bartholomew’s Hospital accident and emergency facilities are 15 minutes drive away.
